The HBO series brings back a book character that you won’t know if you’ve only seen the films

If you've only seen the Harry Potter films so far, you don't know a character from the upcoming series.
If you’ve only seen the Harry Potter films so far, you don’t know a character from the upcoming series.

Harry Potter fans can rejoice: With the new HBO series, they are getting the most faithful film adaptation of the book series to date. Of course, that also means that we should see characters who never existed in the films. For example, it has now been announced that Peeves, the poltergeist, will play a role in the new series adaptation. But maybe you shouldn’t get excited too soon.

Harry Potter series brings back Peeves, the poltergeist from the books

That’s what it’s about: It has been known for some time that HBO is working with author JK Rowling on a new film adaptation of the Harry Potter story, as an extensive series. It should be based as closely as possible on the books of the problematic writer and should be created under her supervision. Of course, this doesn’t go down well everywhere – quite the opposite:

Now officially confirmed: Peeves also appears in the series. This never happened in the films, although it was probably originally planned. However, the role of the poltergeist was apparently simply written out of the entire series (via: Comic book).

Who is Peeves, the poltergeist in the books? Peeves has lived at Hogwarts since 993 and is up to mischief there. He loves to cause chaos and trouble, plays pranks on both students and teachers and carries out all sorts of practical jokes. He can make himself invisible, but can also touch and throw objects, for example. In the Battle of Hogwarts he helped the besieged against the Death Eaters.

How extensive the role of the ghost is in the HBO seriesof course, cannot be said yet. It could well be that it will be expanded or even reduced. It’s best not to look forward to it too much, as it might still fall victim to the scissors, as with the films, despite the official announcement.

To the cast And there is currently no information about who could take on the role of the poltergeist. In the books he is described as a short man with a “broad, treacherous face” who always wears a hat and bow tie. Incidentally, Peeves also appears in Hogwarts Legacy, albeit in a very small, rather inconspicuous role.

How does this all sound to you? Are you looking forward to the character, do you know her from the books or could you do without her?
