Jadavpur University is the prime research and educational institution in India. The university is comprised of two campuses which are set in Jadavpur and at the Salt Lake.

The four specialized institutes that are affiliated in the university are Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Shrimati J.D. Birla Institute, Institute of Business Management and Jadavpur Vidyapith College of Education.
Jadavpur University is also affiliated with the leading research institutes such as Indian Asscociation for the Cultivation of Science and to Central Glass and ceramics Research Institute. The university is currently having the best faculties in Science, Engineering and Arts. Several departments in Engineering, English, Physics, Chemistry and Comparative Literature are also well known.
Schools in West Bengal serve as one of the pioneers in education in India. The state is proud to produce visionaries from the state through Mother Theresa, Rabindranath Tagore, Satyendra Bose to name a few. Schools in West Bengal receive grant funds from the government for scholarship.
