Cody Rhodes faces consequences after Owens steals the title!

Owens took the belt in WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event after his brutal attack against the rightful champion Cody Rhodes. Aldis threatened Owens with massive consequences if he didn’t submit the title belt to him.

This led to a reaction from Owens, who spoke out from his rental car during the WWE SmackDown broadcast. KO offered to come to the ring today to negotiate the situation with Aldis.

The Cargill mystery remains unsolved

Before the first match on WWE SmackDown, Bianca Belair stated in a backstage interview that she had not forgotten what happened to Jade Cargill. At the same time, she was happy for Naomi as her replacement. Naomi expressed gratitude for the opportunity. And Bianca had also made her peace with Bayley as the second partner for a 6-woman tag team match for tonight.

Meanwhile, Nia Jax identified Bianca Belair as the culprit in the Cargill case in an in-ring promo. Things were going well for Belair. She knows that Jade Cargill is better than her in every way. That’s why Bianca went crazy. Bianca should no longer point the finger at others, but rather admit her own guilt.

Tiffany’s title dream leads to bitter defeat

(1) Bianca Belair, Naomi, Bayley esp. Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Candice LeRae; Naomi pinned Stratton with a Bubba Bomb

In the 6-woman tag team match, there was miscommunication between Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae. A little later, however, Tiffany saved Nia Jax from a possible end when Naomi landed a split-legged moonsault on the WWE Women’s Champion.

At this point all the women were eliminated. So Tiffany grabbed her MITB suitcase and thought about cashing in against Nia. But Candice LeRae was there: she ripped the suitcase out of Stratton’s hands. Tiffany yelled, “I want to be champion!”

Naomi took advantage of the chaos and performed the Bubba Bomb against Tiffany. Meanwhile, Bianca and Bayley made sure that Candice could no longer intervene. Naomi pinned Tiffany for the decision.

*** Sami Zayn spoke with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Zayn wanted to get his hands on the Bloodline. But Carmelo Hayes intervened in the conversation. Sami immediately felt so provoked by Melo that he wanted to put the Bloodline on the backburner for tonight in order to face Hayes. Aldis was happy to accept this.

Braun Strowman dominates WWE SmackDown

(2) Braun Strowman hit Austin Theory with the running powerslam

After Braun Strowman recently appeared as a guest in the “Grayson Waller Effect”, he now took on Austin Theory in the ring.

Although Theory did not remain completely unopposed in this match, in principle this eight-minute match was a clear affair.

In the final phase, Theory wanted to score with the A-Town-Down. Strowman broke free and then hit a running powerslam for the win.

Michin crashes the party of the new Women’s United States Champion

Piper Niven presented the “longest reigning” United States Champion Chelsea Green. The Canadian wore her own crown, based on the Statue of Liberty. Chelsea’s rally in the ring also seemed very American.

The newly crowned titleholder announced that we were in for a year that would be “Red, White and Green.” She found words of praise primarily for herself – and not for her constant helper Piper Niven. From the look in Piper’s eyes you could tell that she had expected something different from Chelsea…

The US champion said to Michin, who lost to Green in the tournament final: “Goodbye forever!” She couldn’t understand how Michin had made it this far.

Michin made an appearance at this point and brought her kendo stick with her. Piper Niven got in her way but was pushed aside. When Michin got into the ring, Green managed to narrowly avoid a kendo stick hit with the help of Niven! Piper brought Chelsea to safety…

*** The next match came about spontaneously when the Street Profits from Pretty Deadly learned that Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford had allegedly been attacked by Los Garza a few weeks ago. The Profits sought out Angel and Humberto. A brawl broke out and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made it an official match.

The Street Profits take revenge… on the wrong team

(3) The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) esp. Los Garza (Angel & Humberto); Ford pinned Angel after the doomsday blockbuster

Los Garza had their best moment when they teamed up to slam Montez Ford off the ropes. Angel followed up with a moonsault to the outside on Angelo Dawkins, Humberto followed up with a moonsault on Ford for a 2 count.

The Street Profits soon came back and set up their Revelation finisher in the ring. But Elektra Lopez grabbed Ford’s leg and prevented the action. B-Fab then knocked Elektra to the ground outside the ring.

The way was now clear for the Street Profits to pull off the doomsday blockbuster. Ford pinned Garza for the decision.

*** The Street Profits expressed their gratitude to Pretty Deadly for having been informed about the attackers. Shortly after, Apollo Crews came by and said he saw that the Profits had actually been taken out by #DIY (on December 6th). This caused some confused looks…

The New Bloodline brings destruction to WWE SmackDown

(4) Sami Zayn vs. Carmelo Hayes ends in a no contest

Carmelo Hayes hit the first 48, before Sami Zayn missed with an action off the ropes. When the Nothing But Net was about to happen, Carmelo caught a clothesline on the approach.

Zayn now came with the exploder suplex. A Helluva Kick was supposed to follow, but Hayes left the ring and wanted to go for it. As he stood in the entrance area, Braun Strowman suddenly appeared. Carmelo ran backstage with Braun after him.

Meanwhile, in the ring, Sami was ambushed by the New Bloodline. After a while, Braun brought Carmelo back into the hall. When he discovered what was happening in the ring, Braun let go of Hayes. Strowman took on Solo Sikoa instead.

After Braun’s shoulder block, Solo flew out of the ring. Now Strowman and Jacob Fatu looked at each other. Then Tama Tonga came along and threw himself into the back of Braun’s knee. Solo followed up with two Samoan Spikes against Strowman.

Zayn tried his luck again, but came up short against the three Bloodline rivals. Jacob landed a moonsault on Zayn, Solo followed up with a Samoan Spike. Meanwhile, officials tried to quell the chaos.

Cody Rhodes suggests a ladder match

Kevin Owens didn’t come to the ring alone for the final segment on WWE SmackDown. He carried the Winged Eagle title belt over his shoulder.

Owens, who he felt was cheated out of the WWE Championship in Saturday Night’s Main Event, stated, “That’s my bargaining chip, another match for the WWE Championship!”

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis didn’t get involved in these games: “Give up the belt – or you’ll never set foot in a WWE ring again!”

For the first time since the brutal package piledriver on Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes stepped out in front of the audience!

Cody appeared ready for another match against Owens and delivered one of his emotional promos. He talked about all the people he would do this job for.

Cody: “You want a match that the referee can’t ruin? Great! I want a match where the referee can’t stop what I want to do to you!”

The suggestion that Nick Aldis addressed: At the WWE Royal Rumble on February 1st, both title belts will hang above the ring – Rhodes vs. Owens in a ladder match!

Owens held out his hand to Rhodes, but Cody didn’t respond. Kevin pulled back, but then went after the WWE Champion behind Aldis’ back.

Rhodes received a kick to his injured neck. Aldis threw himself in front of Cody and helpers rushed over.

This ended the last WWE SmackDown for 2024 – and with it the last two-hour edition. From January 3, 2025 it will continue for three hours every week…
